Contrary to what Clownfish repeatedly asserts, this is not all about the money. Ad revenue is a joke. There's no way it EVER funded all the bandwidth for Commietube and Goolag. It would be awesome if DOGE exposed where their operating funds truly are coming from.

It's about controlling available information.

It's safe to blame it all on corporate greed, because the puppeteers want to destroy what is left of the free market, and that fits The Narrative. Orwellian plutocrats obviously don't want us proles to be aware of what they're actually conspiring to do to us.

Conspiracy implies a level of self-awareness and coordination I have yet to see these people demonstrate.

Group think IMO is more accurate as an explanation for how they can pull off maneuvers of such complexity yet idiocy.

Groupthink is part of what is employed to control the useful idiots. And those are the ones we interact with at ground level. Those who coordinate are farther up the hierarchy. Possibly none of them, at any level, have adequate self-awareness.

I want to make sure we’re arguing over degrees here - I’m with you on some of the broader points.

I actually think South Park was unintentionally insightful in this:

Sure in the beginning there are the cynical ones at the top who are trying to exploit the gullible.

The bane of all such systems is - as ever - time. It passes, the old guard die and the young are born new. In order to “work” the system has to select for the most fervent believers. Which means the system has a contradiction it must square because it selects for the gullible, but requires the cynical to function (because in order to survive in such a system, the cynical had to be crafty and competent).

Thus it doesn’t take long before you don’t need a conspiracy - the participants are all true believers. And then it begins breaking down even as it continues to perpetuate.

In my opinion, we’re reaching that stage now. The cynical are dying off, and the true believers are trying to take over.

There’s truth in what you say. The pawns and useful idiots are true believers, for sure. But even they conspire, at their level.

Conspiracy is just part of human nature, from the school cafeteria to the halls of power. Individuals at the very top don’t outgrow it or become too morally pure to engage in it
